WELCOME TO
TORONTO, CANADA
UTMUN 2024 will be hosted at various University of Toronto buildings on our St-George campus.
Come explore the largest city in Canada, Toronto! As a large cosmopolitan city, Toronto offers much to do during your time here. Whether it be a tour inside the Royal Ontario Museum, shopping in the bustling St. Lawrence Market, grabbing a bite at Kensington Market, or skating at Nathan Phillips Square, Toronto has something for everyone!
Ranked as the top university in Canada, and situated in the heart of downtown Toronto, the University of Toronto provides many diverse opportunities for students. With a multitude of excellent undergraduate programs, such as International Relations and Peace, Conflict, and Justice Studies among many others, students studying at the university have the ability to choose between a wide range of programs and courses that fit their interests and aspirations. For delegates to experience this for themselves, they have the option of going on a campus tour to see a day in the life at U of T. Delegates will also be interacting with UTMUN staff—all U of T students—throughout the conference and will be able to talk to them about studying at the largest university in Canada!
Statement of Acknowledgement of Traditional Land
We wish to acknowledge this land on which the University of Toronto operates. For thousands of years it has been the traditional land of the Huron-Wendat, the Seneca, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit River. Today, this meeting place is home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to learn and work on this land.
If you are not in the Toronto area, you can find the Traditional territories, languages, and treaties of where you live here: https://native-land.ca/.
We acknowledge that while Land Acknowledgements are important to properly honour the land we are on, they are merely the first step in a long journey of reconciliation. If you would like to learn more about why we have included a Land Acknowledgement on this guide and why Land Acknowledgements are significant, feel free to look at these resources:
